Maximum scores and engineering mindset
What is a Testathon?
Imagine a hackathon specifically designed for testers. An intensive event where testers and developers team up for an afternoon to tackle real-world tasks. Whether it involves bug hunting, writing test cases, automation, or AI and security challenges, everything must be resolved at a rapid, focused pace. The event was built around practical problem-solving, where the top performers were ranked based on the points they earned.

The winning strategy: parallel work and "speed runs"
The team left nothing to chance. During the competition, they divided the tasks among themselves, allowing them to progress in parallel with maximum efficiency.
“We continuously reviewed each other’s work to guarantee quality and catch any potential errors immediately. For certain challenges, we did actual ‘speed runs’: we focused on solving the problems as quickly as possible while remaining pinpoint accurate, despite the time pressure.” they said, describing their workflow.
Jury evaluation
The team’s results speak for themselves. The professional jury specifically highlighted the guys’ complex engineering mindset and balanced performance. Let’s look at their greatest strengths in the different areas:
Test design: According to the evaluators, the team’s work in this area was absolutely first-rate and flawless. They highlighted the structured, model-based thinking, the maximum coverage, and the transparent and perfectly traceable documentation. Their solution was not a simple screenshot-based task completion, but the result of incredibly conscious planning.
Performance testing: This was not merely running a script, but a deeply interpreted load test. According to the jury, this was one of the strongest submissions in the field.
AI stack: They delivered outstanding quality in this area as well: the structured bug hunting process was convincingly supported by videos. They excellently separated expected and actual results, and also showed a very strong business risk mindset by uncovering real business logic errors, such as price calculation inconsistencies and discount interpretation issues.
Automation stack: They created a strong, highly competitive automation solution based on Playwright, with stable, deterministic tests and a relevant business focus. In the Live Validation phase, they professionally demonstrated the built architecture and confidently justified their technical decisions.
API testing & security stack: The team performed convincing, analytical, and engineering-minded work here as well. They received special praise for the precise modeling of the system’s operation, the various workflow-based scenarios, and the thorough root-cause analysis of vulnerabilities.
Based on the official summary, our colleagues‘ alpha test was one of the strongest in the entire field, and the team showed substantial, professional work in every stack without exception.
Congratulations to the team!
A huge congratulations to Krisztián, Gilbert, Patrik, and Szabolcs for this fantastic achievement! We are proud to have such dedicated and highly skilled professionals strengthening our team.
We would also like to thank the organizers and supporters of the event, especially the Hungarian Testing Board as a professional partner, MindFly Technologies Kft., and Testingbox Kft. for making this great professional challenge possible.
